Diploma in Management Consultancy


The Diploma in Management Consulting is awarded by the Chartered Management Institute and is aimed at developing consulting knowledge, skills and behaviours to operate as a management consultant. The qualification is intended for people who want to enter management consultancy from a functional discipline, or those who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and competencies needed to operate in the field of management consultancy and towards obtaining the internationally recognised Certified Management Consulting award.

Candidates who take the initiative to learn about their chosen profession via a qualification from the professional body demonstrate both their compliance to professional standards and a dedication to their own professional development. Candidates who undertake the DMC will obtain a comprehensive understanding of the profession and acquire the skill-set required for a confident management consultant.

The Diploma in Management Consultancy covers the following ten units:

  • Professional practice
  • Professional development
  • Organisation structure and culture
  • Entry & Diagnosis
  • Interpersonal interaction
  • Group techniques
  • Communicating with impact
  • Managing Consultancy interventions
  • Effective project management
  • Tools and techniques for effective consulting

It is recommended that candidates are educated to degree level or equivalent or hold a minimum of five years' business experience.
