The Latest IC News.

An update on all things IC - October 2018.

Dear Member,

Welcome to our October Newsletter! The Chartered Management Consultant project is moving ahead well.  Sue Hatton is running the project - she’s our new full–time Director of the Chartered Management Consultant award; in this Newsletter, she introduces herself and gives you an update on ChMC progress.  We also look at the ICMCI, the international body which unites institutes like ours from many countries – their conference takes place this month in Milan, and IC will be well represented there.  You can also find out more about our Management Consulting Journal, a business update about IC and the details of our special offer of insurance for members.

We’ll be sending another Newsletter later this year, and we’d be very pleased to receive items for it from you.

Kind regards,

Ian Watson FCMI FIC
Chair, Institute of Consulting Advisory Committee

Chartered Management Consultant

Having joined CMI 3 months ago I am delighted to have been given the unique opportunity to lead the development of the Chartered Management Consultant Award. My career over the last 20 years has been within Management Consulting, primarily within PwC and I therefore know first-hand the value the Chartered Management Consultant Award will bring to the profession, the firms within it, individual consultants and clients.

Three months into my new role it is a sign of major progress that we are well into the development of a prototype for the Award to include a competency framework, progression stages, pathways to the award and methods of assessment. Also that a number of strategic working relationships have been established from scratch with key stakeholders who are working with CMI to design the Award including Deloitte, IBM, BAE Systems, PwC and the Management Consulting Association.  Ian Watson, Chair, Institute of Consulting is an active member of the ChMC Oversight Board and the next meeting is on 10 October 2018. This update was presented at the CMI Board meeting on 21 September and it was recognised excellent progress had been made.

ICMCI Annual Conference

A delegation of our members are heading over to Milan in mid October to attend the ICMCI annual conference. On the agenda are a wide range of subject matter and we'll report back on this in the next edition of the newsletter.

Management Consultancy Journal

Earlier in the year we launched the Management Consultancy Journal. We'd welcome editorials on consultancy news, initiatives and examples of consultancy best practice. The editorial should be no more than 500 words in length, which we will review and publish on the website via future editions of this newsletter.

Please visit the IC Journal Webpage or email us at editorial@iconsulting.org.uk to submit your article or for further information.
