Student currently studying at degree level or higher who has an interest in consultancy or business advice.

To become an Affiliate, individuals will:

• Have a demonstrated interest in business consultancy and/or advice or
• Be a new or aspiring consultant with under 2 years experience or
• Demonstrate a commitment to CPD

Associate members are entitled to use the letters AIC after their name.

To become an Associate, individuals must:

• Be a practising consultant or business adviser with a minimum of 2 years experience or
• Hold a first degree relating to /IC or CMI Diploma in Management Consulting, or equivalent.
• Demonstrate a commitment to CPD

Fellows are entitled to use the letters FIC after their name.

To become a Fellow, individuals must:

• Fulfil the criteria for Member grade, plus:
• Have been actively practising for a minimum of 5 consecutive years
• If individual holds no appropriate qualifications thy should have a minimum 10 years' consulting experience, with at least 3 at a strategic level
• Present a minimum of 2 client references to demonstrate outstanding competence and credibility within the profession.
• Demonstrate significant contribution to the profession over and above normal work, eg writing articles, mentoring others, teaching or lecturing in a specific professional area providing thought leadership to the profession or the wider community, OR
• Demonstrate, over a significant period of time, work that has had important impact for clients and through which they have gained recognition and acknowledgement, supported by evidence in the form of a reference from a senior client which confirms work at the highest professional standards
• Submit an up to date CPD record

IC is committed to continuing professional development (CPD) as a means of demonstrating members are keeping their knowledge up to date. As such we will be sampling members CPD from time to time.

Members are entitled to use the letters MIC after their name.

To become a Member, individuals must:

• Fulfil the criteria for Associate membership plus:
• Have a minimum of 3 years' consulting / business advice experience.
• Present a minimum of 2 client references.
• Provide evidence of 2 years CPD records including working towards the CMC
