“The success of an organisation or employer is directly dependent on employee well-being.”  Whitfield and Cachia,  University of West London 2018.  Last year in the UK, according to the Health and Safety Executive, well in excess of 1 million people were absent from work for 22 million days as a result of work-related physical and mental health conditions. Since 2014 these figures have flatlined despite the fact that many companies have work wellness strategies and programmes in place.

In April 2019 the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) published their 19th annual survey exploring health, wellbeing and absence in UK workplaces. The survey of over 1,000 people professionals, identifies the main risks to people's healh and priority areas where employers need to take action for maximum impact. We will examine the latest statistics and two case studies from the public and private sectors to determine how this information might influence health and wellness policies and practices in the workplace.

For those tasked with developing a work wellness strategy and programme there is an overwhelming choice of potential features, for example, employee assistance programmes, compassionate leadership, financial wellbeing as well as the more obvious gym memberships and agile working policies.   Participants will consider the essential steps to take when designing and implementing a successful work wellness programme and how to select the most effective options for their employees or clients.  If you already have a work wellness programme in place, this workshop will help you to evaluate it and identify any areas for improvement.

Who should attend:

This interactive session will be useful to senior leaders, managers, human resource professionals, consultants and business owners.

By the end of the session delegates will have:

  • become more aware of how successful work wellness programmes impact on the ability of an organisation to function effectively.
  • greater understanding of wellness tools and their effectiveness on different types of employee.
  • developed an outline plan to create or enhance their work wellness programme based on current research and practices.
