For several years the IC has been developing a strong relationship with the broader consultancy purchasing community to ensure that there is a clear and growing understanding of each other’s roles in getting the best from consultancy assignments.
The primary aim of the CPSG is to facilitate improvements in the level of mutual respect and understanding between the procurement and consulting professions. The CPSG will take a leading role in educating the wider consulting marketplace on what represents best value for money from a procurement/budget-holder perspective and this will help contribute to a more transparent commercial debate between the buying and selling communities.
The CPSG includes a number of experienced procurement professionals and the current chair is Peter Sammons.
The Consultancy Purchasers LinkedIn Group (CPG)
This LinkedIn group has been created to provide an independent and dynamic environment where procurement professionals can exchange views and ideas with their peers on how to buy consulting services most effectively. The CPG ‘network’ includes professional buyers from a wide variety of different organisations, both private and public sector. This group acts as the lead communication channel between the CPSG and the consultancy procurement community.
Key Activities
2/3 times a year the CPSG organises networking events in Central London where Group members and representatives from the consulting profession can meet to discuss the issues that so often get in the way of an effective buyer/seller working relationship. From time to time they also hold smaller 'focus groups' where buyers and users of consulting services from similar areas of the marketplace will get together to work through a topic that has particular relevance to them.
The IC firmly believe that proactive engagement with the purchasing community is essential in helping to ensure the effectiveness of consultancy support within client organisations and the provision of useful consultancy support services.
